What is hypnosis?
Hypnotherapy is a gentle, therapeutic modality that can help you access areas of the mind that can help produce rapid and long lasting change.
Ever driven from one place to another and not remembered the last 10 kilometres of the drive? That’s a state of trance. When you’re daydreaming, you’re in trance. It’s when the mind and body are in “auto pilot” mode.
You are awake during the entire hypnotherapy session. The trance state varies from person to person, and it feels just like the way you do as you’re about to fall asleep. Deeply relaxed, yet you can hear what is going on around you.
During a hypnotherapy session, you are fully aware and in control of your own mind. No person can be hypnotised against their will, morals or values. Hypnosis is a co-operative interaction in which you respond to the suggestions of the hypnotherapist.
During hypnosis, the hypnotherapist and yourself, are working together to achieve a single positive outcome, your goal.

Why hypnotherapy works.
You unconscious mind (subconscious) can be described as everything within your experience and capabilities that you are not currently thinking about or currently aware of at the present time.
The unconscious mind is responsible for preserving the body, likes to follow orders (like our common thought patterns for example), is symbolic (think dreaming) and does not process negatives.
Basic philosophy of hypnosis states “whatever you can imagine, and hold in your mind as real can become real”.
People do not consciously decide to blush or sweat profusely or create phobias. It all happens unconsciously & automatically.
When we want to influence certain behaviours, reactions and performance, we need to communicate with and update our unconscious processes. This can be done deliberately by our own choice or through other various intentional or unintentional hypnotic states.
