Today I was on Facebook Live , speaking about the ONE thing you can do to reduce your anxiety and get an hour of time back every. single. day.
Some of you might already be up on this, but the one thing to stop doing is watching the news. Just don’t do it. When do the media actually tell you anything good about the world?
If you’re an avid news watcher/listener, how does it make you feel when you hear about the latest terrorist attack, local murder or robbery? Trust me. If there was something really worth hearing about from the news, your friends and family would be on the phone to you!
I don’t for a second play the naive card here and say by not watching the news, then bad things won’t happen,and how will I ever know what’s happening in the world? What I want you to ask yourself is… “Does this news serve me? Am I happy and fulfilled by listening to fear-inducing stories?” Better still, have your husband/kids/partner to take a picture of your face while you’re watching it. You’ll see first hand the amount of stress is in your face. So not worth it. Stress = Wrinkles. Frown wrinkles. Wouldn’t you rather have wrinkles from smiling?
If you watch the news to hear about the weather, then just bypass the news and get a weather app on your phone. Learn to research topics of interest on the internet. Make up your own mind about what enters your eyes and ears.
So if you’re like me, and you’ve made the conscious decision not to watch the news, or turn the radio up when the hourly news reading comes on, what are you going to do with all that extra time?
